Your Guide to Pulsed Light Photo Rejuvenation
If you want to improve your skin tone, IPL is leading the way in making skin look more beautiful. The IPL photo rejuvenation process offers comfortable and effective photofacials for the treatment of sun damage and unsightly veins, and can make visible improvements in the texture, elasticity and tone of your skin. The process provides comfortable and effective photofacials available with little or no down time.
The photo rejuvenation process uses pulses of concentrated light to treat:
Sun damage, sunspots, rosacea, spider veins, angiomas, psoriasis, stretch marks, scars, vitiligo, dermatitis and acne.
Most frequently asked questions:
How is IPL different from Laser?
The IPL device can generate light energy at various frequencies in order to treat different skin conditions. For this reason, many dermatologists indicate that they prefer IPL over laser therapy. IPL can encourage new collagen growth (that causes wrinkles to diminish in appearance), remove age spots or brown spots, and decrease skin redness. Researchers at Brown University found that IPL is also highly effective at removing visible signs of birthmarks and facial lesions.
Which areas can be treated?
Most areas can be treated except directly around the eyes.
What are the treatments like?
Most IPL units have a hand-held wand so the dermatologist can deliver short energy pulses to a small area of skin. During your session you'll wear protective goggles as if you were headed to a tanning bed. The area of your skin that's being treated is then covered in a gel, and the wand will be pressed against your skin. The IPL unit emits light energy pulses that get absorbed by your skin without damaging nearby healthy skin tissue. Most treatments last less than 30 minutes.
What should I expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling.
Sunspots will darken after treatment and naturally shed from the skin within 1 - 2 weeks.
Skin with Rosacea will typically benefit from less pronounced redness within one week after treatment. Spider veins may disappear after treatment or they may appear darker and then fully or partially fade within 10-14 days.
Typically, a few visits will be necessary to obtain desired results.
Using a broad spectrum sun block on a daily basis is required on the treated area.
